Ali Hassan Khatau | Tanzania Ali Hassan Khatau has more than seven years of experience in the medical and public health fields. Currently, he works as a general practitioner in Dar es Salaam. He also volunteers at diabetes screening camps across Tanzania. Ali holds a medical degree from Hubert Kairuki Memorial University in Dar es Salaam. He is motivated to advocate for health services for people with diabetes after seeing multiple cases of foot and leg amputations caused by severe diabetic foot ulcers during medical school. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Ali plans to use the knowledge, skills, and networks gained to found a nonprofit organization that raises awareness of and screens for diabetes and other noncommunicable diseases in Dar es Salaam.
